The 163rd Gorgie Scouts went to Kilninver in 1969, which was the only visit to this region. There had been visits to nearby Kerrera, but the weather had not been kind to us during our summer camps. Inland venues had been more popular, but this may have been more about luck than location.
Although the map suggests that Kilninver itself is farther from the sea, the campsite was beside the sea as can be seen in the photos taken from Mr Young’s slides.
The campsite was beside the sea and had quite an exposed situation. The weather in 1969 was not the best, perhaps more typically changeable as can be seen in the variety of dress of scouts in the various photos. As ever this did not prevent us from enjoying a great summer camp experience.
