 City Boys Club

After leaving the 163rd Gorgie Scouts I started City boys club, based on scouting values.

Many of the scouts left the troop to join me in this new club.  Before long we had attracted a number of other boys looking for a new kind of adventure.

As well as providing lots of sporting and other activities in the club that were similar to scouting, we worked in the community. This was all done with less ceremony and no uniform, but with scouting values.

One of the activities that we did was a Street Clean, where we got cleaning supplies – brushes, bags, gloves etc – from Edinburgh Corporation or Council, and we helped look after our community.

This photo was in the Edinburgh Evening News, taken in Duff Street, between Downfield PLace and Springwell Place, Dalry and features some of the early members of our club.
