Another popular place for summer camps was Kerrera , by the Sound of Kerrera, at Oban
The 163 Gorgie Scout Troop had been here in 1964, and returned in 1967. The troop had to travel to Oban and take a ferry over to the island. Then they had to carry their equipment to the campsite, before setting up camp. This was a real adventure for the boys and leaders and the weather doesn’t appear to have been the best, although everyone seems to be having a great time.
Many of the participants still have to be identified, but the views of the island are wonderful. The campsite was open and quite exposed, with very little shelter. The photos are from slides taken by Mr R.B.Young Group Scout Leader. Eric Carbarns is Scout Leader,
