The 163 Gorgie Scouts visited Lochearnhead Outdoor Activity Centre regularly over the years, and these are photos from a visit in 1974.
The 163rd Gorgie Scouts visited Lochearnhead many times over the years, usually for weekend camps from autumn through to spring. Sometimes the weather was extremely good, but it could be cold and under snow. This did not detract from the great times we had there, but added to the experience. We enjoyed hill walking and putting into practice many of the skills learned in the scout hall every week.
Here you can see some typical activities during one of our visits. In those days, boys wore football colours quite prominently with the most popular team being Heart of Midlothian FC as can be seen with the maroon and white scarves.
