{"id":453,"date":"2016-10-08T23:55:08","date_gmt":"2016-10-08T22:55:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/scozia.co.uk\/blog\/?p=453"},"modified":"2019-01-06T17:53:02","modified_gmt":"2019-01-06T17:53:02","slug":"163-gorgie-scouts-lochgoilhead-1974","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scozia.co.uk\/index.php\/2016\/10\/08\/163-gorgie-scouts-lochgoilhead-1974\/","title":{"rendered":"163 Gorgie Scouts &#8211; Lochgoilhead 1974"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Summer camp 1974 was at Lochgoilhead where the weather was mixed that year. &nbsp;We shared the centre with other groups, and made great friends from Barrhead.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: 0;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!1m18!1m12!1m3!1d284349.75285955606!2d-4.9758960089777915!3d56.16605267401329!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x488908ee20f1f323%3A0x5a37376a5d3b500c!2sLochgoilhead%2C+Cairndow!5e0!3m2!1sen!2suk!4v1476910725919\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Lochgoilhead was a slight departure from usual summer camps, where we organised everything for ourselves. &nbsp;Instead we visited the Lochgoilhead Outdoor Activity Centre, where they organised and supervised activities, although we could include our own ideas too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The weather that year wasn&#8217;t the best, being quite wet, so being in wooden huts was preferable to tents. We enjoyed lots of activities on the loch, which are probably more strictly supervised these days. &nbsp;In these early times, groups had more freedom when using the equipment. &nbsp;They even had a small swimming pool on site. &nbsp;Usual camp rituals could not be followed, and although&nbsp;we enjoyed this new experience we returned to a more traditional camp in 1975. &nbsp;Mr Young is still Group Scout Leader, but Eric Carbarns has now left to go to university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-3 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex
